Meet rainbow families of all different shapes and sizes at the annual Rainbow Families Picnic.
Location : Warringal Park, Beverley Road, Heidelberg
Pack your picnic or BBQ goodies, grab the kids, invite your families and friends and meet at or ride to the new and fabulous Possum Hollow Playground, at Warringal Park in Heidelberg on the Yarra River, for the annual Rainbow Families Council Picnic.
This annual event brings families from all over the state, who come in all shapes and sizes to meet up and have some fun in the sun and this year we have added an exciting bike ride option.
Families can either meet at Possum Hollow Playground at Warringal Park @ 11am, or can get on their bikes and ride with other rainbow families from a range of meeting points along the Main Yarra Trail.
Families can register for the bike ride via the Rainbow Families Council's website from December at www.rainbowfamilies.org.au so meeting points and numbers of families can be confirmed.
The picnic is a great way to catch up with old friends or meet new ones from across Victoria. After this event in past years, a few new playgroups and social groups have even been created, when families have discovered other families living in their area at this event.
Possum Hollow Playground is fully fenced with lots of parking and shade and has activities for all ages including 2 flying foxes, cubbies, a space to kick the footy or play cricket, as well as a basketball court and skate area for the older kids too. There will also be a kiosk with a range of coffee and snacks from 2013 plus all the usual amenities.
Look out for the Rainbow Families Council banner and rainbow flags.
There will be prizes for the best decorated rainbow bikes.
