Wonderful news in NSW with the start of "Gay Donor Dads Forum". The forum is being run by Nick Moffatt and a psychologist Victoria Kausnic and will run in the ACON offices on Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills from 9.30am on Saturday 20 April 2013.
Drew Sheldrick from Star Observer spoke to Nick Moffatt about the forum:
A forum for gay donor dads to share their experiences and hear stories from their peers is due to open for its first session next weekend.
The forum is open to current and potential donor fathers looking to learn from their collective experiences and hear information that is difficult to find elsewhere.
Moffatt, who started the forum, said the idea came from his decision to become a donor father for a lesbian couple.
“Every donor dad I’ve known has had a different story, some good, some bad – I think collecting those stories could prove very useful for young men who might be looking to take that step,” Moffatt said.
“When I was looking to become a donor there was nowhere giving out information specifically for people like me – I think starting that conversation might cater to a group of men who until now haven’t known they had anywhere to turn.”
