Our Friends at Rainbow Families in Victoria, ACT and NSW have asked for GDA to share this important message - please read, please share and if you can - please participate.
On September 13, Rainbow Families from Victoria, ACT and NSW will spend the day in Parliament House in Canberra, meeting politicians to share our one simple message - for the sake of our kids, please do not hold a plebiscite.
We are seeking expressions of interest from a diversity of families who would like to join us. The day will be long, starting at 8.30am and involving a range of meetings and media activities. You and your children would need to be prepared to be filmed and recorded as well as in some cases, share your stories publicly. If you would like to come along but for whatever reason can not be photographed or do media we can discuss how this might work.
Some of us are driving up from Melbourne on Monday 12 September and plan to stay two nights in the ACT. Flights are expensive and would need to be booked soon as this is a sitting week for federal parliament. A day in Parliament House is hard work as it is requires lots of walking, being quiet in the corridors, waiting for meetings and going through lots of security checks. Children who need to run around a lot might be exhausting (I have one of those!) but we can organise our day based on needs of different families to come and go.
Sounds like fun? Call Felicity on 0411 593 607 with any questions or email info@rainbowfamilies.org.au to express your interest and for more information.
