[USA] - The Gay Dad Project Documentary

"The Gay Dad Project" documentary is being made by three inspirational young people, Arnie, Jared and Erin.  They describe their website and project as being "a safe, warm and welcoming space for people of the LGBTQ community, along with their straight allies, to share stories about their experiences of how gay parents - whether you are one, have one, know one, or are interested in meeting some - have had an effect on your lives".

Their plans for their documentary film are well underway but they are still seeking funding to help complete it.  They are nearly half way to their modest target and you can help them reach it with a contribution.  To find out more visit The Gay Dad Project website here and visit The Gay Dad Project Documentary funding page to make a contribution here.

It is films and projects like this that inspire and educate.  The impact can never be underestimated.

Okay so here's the deal:

We founded The Gay Dad Project to talk about what it was like to have a gay dad. None of us had ever met any other 'kids' who knew what it was like to have a parent come out, so we wanted to tell our stories in the hopes that we could (and would) find others.

How are we going to do that?

We started by sharing our stories on our webpage (www.gaydadproject.org) but we want to share more of our story. We want to tell it in our own words. We want to dig deeper and go back to explore the places that shaped us. We also want to reach out and find other 'kids' and families like ours. A full-length documentary film will allow us to do all of this and bring visibility to a family type that has not yet been so publicly discussed.

So, what do we need?

Peace. Love. Harmony. Understanding. annnnd of course money.

We need money to get this project off the ground. We want to travel and film on location in each of the different areas and locations we all grew up. We also want to tell the story of other family members and people who live in (cool) faraway places.

This campaign is intended to pay for:

• travel expenses for filming on location
• the film crew
• associated production costs

What will this do?

We hope that by sharing our stories and making this movie we can reach others and raise awareness. Raise awareness about gay rights. Raise awareness about a different type of family. And reach out to show other families, like ours, that they are not alone.

We don't want to just tell you our story. . . we want to show you our story. From the inside.

That is why we are making this film.
