[Global] - GLBTI Parenting News and Views from Around the World

Rob Watson who writes the evoL= blog has just posted a piece called "A Son Tells His Gay Dad, 'You Are Not My Mom'".  All parents hate the thought that their children will say "you are not good" in some form or another, however what does it feel like for a gay dad when his son tells him "you are not my mom"?  Rob Watson talks about it here.

President Obama talked about us in his inauguration speech today - the first US President to do so.  "Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law -- for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well."  How many other world leaders have such conviction?

The wonderful Qparent blog reports on a New York dad who started a gay-friendly scout troup.  The anti-gay stand of the Boy Scouts appears to be almost a uniquely American thing.  Countries like the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are GLBTI welcoming - as indeed they should be.  Time for the US scouting movement to move into the 21st century so that people like Todd Schweikert do not need to create such groups.  Well done to Todd!  Read more at Qparent.

I didn't realize that the US was such an anomaly in regards to its anti-gay scouting policies. It's kind of nice to hear -- not that the US is restrictive, but that everyone else is not! Thanks for the link.
